Excellence on the mat and in the garage

Tucker Hogan, a Daniel Boone Area High School senior and student in Berks Career and Technology’s (BCTC) Diesel Technology program, just completed what most athletes dream about, an undefeated season!  Tucker is the PIAA 3A state wrestling champion at 189 lbs. with a perfect season of 44-0 this year.

But wrestling is not Tucker’s only passion.  “I have always liked working on cars and trucks.  It is good skill to have even if I don’t choose diesel technology as a career.”  Tucker continued, “It is something that I will take with me no matter what direction in life I go.”

Maintaining a high school sports or extracurricular schedule is very important to many students, especially Tucker who had been wrestling for years and wanted to compete on Daniel Boone’s High School Wrestling team.  “I almost didn’t consider attending BCTC because I didn’t think I could do both. But I realized that sports and BCTC works very well together.”  Tucker added, “if there was an away game, I would be dismissed from BCTC early just as I would at Daniel Boone.”

His future goals are to wrestle for a NCAA Division 1 school and major in Education to become a Special Education teacher. Tucker noted, “my parents have a school for special education students, and I work with them every summer. I especially enjoy working with the older students and seeing their view of the world. It has made me a better person.”
