Option 1 – In-Depth Welding Training: 1068 hours
Students in the Comprehensive Welding program learn the welding standards established by the American Welding Society (AWS). Welding at BCTC is also an AWS SENSE (School Excelling through National Skill Standards Education) program. Students will learn electric arc welding, shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding and gas tungsten arc welding, as well as oxyacetylene cutting/welding. Students will also have hands on experience using pulse welding technology and a CNC controlled plasma table. Federal Financial Aid is available for this program.
- Certified Welder (AWS)
- Level 1 – Entry Welder (AWS)
- NCCER Core
- OSHA/Career Safe 10-hour
- Day – 8am-3pm
- Evening – 3:30pm to 10pm Monday through Friday
Option 2 – Evening Welding Programs
These programs meet twice a week from 6pm – 9pm and include books and supplies.
- Basic Welding Course – 30 hours, 10 classes
This course covers the fundamental concepts of the welding process, welding terms, safety, and tools. This course provides introduction to theory and hands-on lab instruction in Oxy acetylene/plasma cutting and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (stick).
- Intermediate Welding Course – 66 hours, 22 Classes
This course provides additional theory and practice in the Shielded Metal Arc Welding process and custom instruction in one of the following areas: Shielded Metal Arc Welding (stick), Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG) or oxyacetylene welding.
- Advanced Welding Course – 75 hours, 25 classes
This course is a continuation of the intermediate course and allows for additional hands-on practice in Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding and/or oxyacetylene welding. Students will have the opportunity to take the appropriate American Welding Society (AWS) certification test(s) in Shielded Metal Arc Welding and/or Gas Metal Arc Welding.
