A Senior Only Program

BCTC, Penn State Berks, and Tower Health are collaborating to offer an exciting Medical Health Professions Program for high school seniors.

The program combines high level academics with the opportunity to shadow healthcare professionals and earn college credits. The program exposes high school seniors to various healthcare professions so they can make more informed decisions about their future education. Students will be enrolled at both Penn State Berks and BCTC for one year. Students will take dual enrollment college courses at Penn State Berks two days a week, attend classes on medical-related theory two days a week at the Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences, and shadow healthcare providers at the hospital one day a week. Students will be able to earn up to seven transcriptive college credits through the program. Students will be expected to pay the equivalent to the Reading Area Community College dual enrollment cost per course credit toward the PSU courses, including PSU student fees; however, BCTC may assist the student with the tuition cost as funding is available.

BCTC provides education in the areas of healthcare, trends, professions, anatomy, physiology, and diseases. Tower Health provides job shadowing opportunities in which students will gain an understanding of the healthcare system by observing professionals in a real-world hospital environment. Admission to the program is competitive and students must meet strict admission guidelines.
