Placement Rate Calculation

BCTC is required to report Placement Rates to our accrediting agency, Middles States Association of Colleges and Schools on an annual basis. The placement rate is based on the number of students who, during the reporting year received a certificate, or other recognized educational credential awarded for successfully completing a program and who were employed in a position related to their field of study within 180 days of the date of completing their program. End of program surveys, which include student placement information, are completed by all students on the last date of attendance at BCTC. For students who were not placed at the time of graduation follow up phone calls are placed and surveys are sent at intervals of 90 and 180 days.

A student is counted as a completer of a program if (1) he/she is employed in the field of education pursued or a related field, or (2) has received the appropriate credential and entered the military or continued his/her education. Valid employment in the field or related field includes placement in a permanent full or part-time position with an employer or employment agency, or self-employment in the field of education or related field. Students who are unavailable for work are excluded from the calculation. Students who are considered unavailable for work are students who have a current life situation that impedes their ability to work at the time of the survey. These situations may include, but are not limited to, a medical condition affecting the student or family member for whom the student must care, incarceration, or call to the mission field.
