Open Records / Right To Know
What is the Right to Know Law
Under the Right to Know Law, all government records in the possession of a Commonwealth or Local Agency are presumed to be accessible by the public. This means that you may access any government records you request unless the agency is able to prove that the record you requested is not public under the law
How to Submit a Right to Know Request
All requests for Open Records must be submitted in writing and be addressed to the Open Records Officer, Mr. Jason Feiertag. The request must identify or describe the records sought with sufficient specificity. The request must also include a name and address to which BCTC can address its response.
Written responses can be submitted in person during normal business hours or via the following methods:

Berks Career & Technology Center will not accept verbal or written anonymous requests. A written request for information under the Right-To-Know Act does not need to include any explanation of the requestor’s reasons for requesting the information.
How to File an Appeal
When a request is denied or deemed denial, a requester may file an appeal to the Pennsylvania Office of Open Records. The appeal must be filed within 15 business days of the denial or deemed denial date. The appeal must also include the request, agency denial if one exists, and address agency grounds that the request was denied. An appeals officer will determine if the record(s) is subject to public access.
