The Berks Career & Technology Center (BCTC) was honored to welcome Senator Tracy Pennycuick today for a firsthand look at the results of her advocacy and support. Last year, Senator Pennycuick was instrumental in securing a $150,000 job training grant, which has revolutionized BCTC’s ability to provide cutting-edge training for students preparing to enter the workforce.
During her visit, alongside BCTC’s Executive Director, Dr. Michael Stauffer, and Campus Principal, Mr. Brad Entrekin, Senator Pennycuick toured the campus and reviewed the new equipment acquired with the grant, including specialized climbing gear used in BCTC’s Electrical Occupations program. This equipment introduces students to essential lineman skills, including rigging and climbing techniques that are foundational for careers in the utility and energy sectors. By simulating real-world utility work, the program exposes students to the demands of maintaining and repairing electrical systems, preparing them for further training or entry-level opportunities in the industry.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to Senator Pennycuick for her unwavering support of career and technical education,” said Dr. Stauffer, Executive Director of BCTC. “Her leadership in securing this funding is more than an investment in equipment—it’s an investment in our students, their futures, and the industries they will serve.” Additionally, Mr. Entrekin stated, “This grant has elevated the quality of our programs, empowering our students with the tools and skills needed to succeed.”
BCTC is proud to highlight the tangible impact of this grant, which also includes advanced tools for other technical programs, further reinforcing the school’s mission to deliver high-quality, hands-on education.
